About Julian Beale

NOVELIST
Julian Beale Author

Julian Beale spent twenty five years travelling through forty countries across Africa whilst representing Land Rover. He experienced the machinations of politics in the former English, French, Belgian and Portuguese colonies. He was involved in the powerplay of corporations and he worked with the fixers and intermediaries. He saw the unashamed corruption and witnessed the misdirection of International Aid.

Julian was arrested, bribed, threatened and shot at. He ate doubtful food and drank worse water. He survived endless road trips, harassed border crossings and heart stopping plane rides.

But like many others, Julian has been compelled by Africa, spellbound by the beauty of its nature, captivated by the culture and warm vibrancy of its peoples. He is humbled by their resilience, patience and disarming good humour even in the face of despair and deprivation. He says …

‘There is one day which stands out in my memories, a morning when I saw two young men lying dead in the middle of an urban motorway – victims of jaywalking whose bodies no one had troubled to remove. That same day in a shanty town, I watched children emerging from squalor to go to school, miraculously immaculate in uniform and wearing the seraphic smile of joie de vivre.’

Julian Beale lives in Gloucestershire.

His two novels, Wings of the Morning and Millennium,
are available to order on this Website or from Amazon.

Books

“The perfect holiday read. Neither myself or my husband could put it down when we read it. A Wilbur Smith-esque African saga spread over several generations of inter-woven families. Highly recommended.”

Wings of the Morning

“I really enjoyed this book. Julian does sex and violence really well – my favourite scenes were action-thriller ones which really gripped me. I thoroughly recommend this to anyone wanting a fast paced book with relevance and action.”

Wings of the Morning

“A brilliant and compelling read – extremely well and intelligently researched. A companion for Wings of the Morning which you don’t need to have read in order to appreciate Julian Beale’s second novel Millennium. Well done!”

Millennium

“Excellent read! Picked it up couldn’t put it down!”
